Sonja Baehr Director of Projects on the Flying Fish and the Cross Border Project

Valentine, Irene, Lucie and Anna,

Many, many thanks for this interesting, well written, and very thorough report. I was very inspired as I read through it. It is clear that the work you did in 2013 blossomed and bore fruit with the Flying Fish and the Cross Border Project. In addition, the growth that took place within each individual who participated in Young Idea 2013 will infuence countless other students and artists with whom they interact. I am so proud that IDEA was able to support you and provide the base of those three weeks in Paris from which so many positive exchanges could be nourished. It is my hope that IDEA can continue to provide support for these kinds of projects as we go forward. Your report will provide valuable information for future projects. We can all learn and benefit from your experiences.

Please keep us informed about your continuing projects and activities.

My very best wishes to you all,

Sonya

What came first, the chicken or the egg... ?

Since doubt persists, we start from zero and offer you an overview of our past, present and future egg-laying

Remember, in 2013, ab ovo conceived and carried out the Young IDEA 2013 project, a Laboratory for Intercultural Exploration on Art-Education Practices. Thirty-nine young professionals from 13 different countries came to Paris to exchange practices and reflect on solidarity and cross-cultural issues, as well as common stakes for the future, concerning the right to have access to education and the arts.
A film documenting this experience is available here:

A report with details about workshops created on this occasion is also available in our website and in attachment.
In 2014, ab ovo co-founded Flying Fish, a European interdisciplinary collective formed by organisations and individuals: GUTS 1213, Forum Company, Noemï Degrauwe and ab ovo. The core of the collective was set up during Young IDEA 2013.
Our first meeting took place in August 2014 in Medina de Rioseco (Spain) with The Cross Border Project. Its aims were both to structure a base for the collective’s activities’ development and to experiment with performing arts and pedagogical methodologies working with a local community on the following topics: inter-generational relationships, memory and transmission. For a short video summary, click here: https://vimeo.com/album/3218452/video/116638591
You can also visit the collective’s website where you will find pedagogical tools ans reflexions. www.flyingfishcollective.eu

As for 2015, hopefully there is a lot to say !
ab ovo has a new president, Aïnhoa Jean-Calmettes, chief editor of the magazine Mouvement, and a new treasurer, Gabriel Perez-Milchberg, actor.
This year, ab ovo provides its expertise to help others design and conduct their projects at a local and international level.
- The Théâtre Liberté in Toulon, for the design of a space dedicated to digital arts in a European framework.
- The organization Réseau Friche, for the design of art-education projects in public space in the area of la Goutte d'Or, in the 18th arrondissement of Paris.
